Hi ‘56ers,

As most of you know, I have been living in Pennsylvania, near Scranton, for the better part of 40 years.  I have studied voice and performance techniques in Scranton and taught voice for several years out of our home.  While teaching, I was also participating in three local bands (trumpet), singing in two show choirs, my church choir, singing as a duet with a friend in and around Pennsylvania and New York and performing in two theatre groups.  I have also enjoyed being lead soloist in church choirs and hiring out for weddings, funerals and private parties.  I have done a fair amount of directing adult and youth church choirs and a number of variety shows.  These are some of the different activities I have participated in along the line of music since getting the “bug” after being one of the Chase Sisters in Trumansburg.  Music was a very large part of my mother’s family, it continued on into our lives as we were growing up and it will continue on with me, as I have rejoined my church choir and have taken on another voice student, but will probably not expand it beyond this one.

My aptitude tests all pointed me in the direction of higher education and medicine so they’re the fields I worked in, picking up several college courses along the way.  I was employed at Tompkins County Hospital, Agway, Ithaca College and Cornell while still living in T-Burg, then in a doctor’s office in Plymouth, Indiana and at Keystone College as Administrative Assistant in the College Relations Office in La Plume, Pa.  and Office Manager for a doctor here in our town of Nicholson.

When I met Tom Adams over 30 years ago, we married and bought the home we now live in.  It seems as though we’ve been under construction for many years, but only about two.  He is not only a “do-it-yourself” kind of man but he’s also been a wonderfully kind and understanding father figure to my five children who look up to him.  Tom works a very large garden centered in the middle of our five acres.  We can, freeze and eat fresh produce all summer.  We share our crops with our neighbors and fellow church members and of course, the deer, woodchucks and rabbits.

We enjoy our children and grandchildren which total 7 and 11, respectively. My son, Win and my daughter, Chris, live in TX, son Dale is in TN., son Robin in FL. and son Mark in N.C.  Both of Tom’s daughters, Jody and Sherri, reside in FL.  There are also great-grandchildren, totaling 5 - at last count.

Our winters are spent at our condo in Garden City, S.C. since we retired four years ago.  We don’t mind missing the snow and cold winds but there’s really no place like home (as Dorothy said).

We have had a number of visits from different classmates over the years and look forward to seeing more of you.  You have our number, e-mail and home address.  Don’t be strangers.
